I can’t believe we have to go home tomorrow 🙁 I don’t want to say goodbye to the beach, but I do want to say goodbye to my sun poisoning – or as I found online – polymorphous light eruption.

Exhibit B

I’m a leper! I used sunscreen every day, and luckily it’s not on my face, but all over my arms and legs. It says online that it goes away in 10 days. What a souvenir!
Yesterday was my only non-workout day, and I enjoyed lots of sun and surf. So did Thumper.

I started yesterday with a Peanut Butter Toast

And then went out to Tommy’s Gourmet Market to pick up some cute food souvenirs. Check out my loot.
I have been wanting to try that nut butter since seeing it on Tina’s blog a few months ago.
I had maybe half of that White & Dark Chocolate Chunk Berry Infused Cookie from Heaven. I had to restrain myself from going back for more!
And seriously, how freaking cute are the flop iced sugar cookies? A great gift for someone!

After some beach time we headed back for lunch.

And a few Hint of Limes
We weren’t ready for more beach time, so we thought we’d cruise over to the Nags Head area – just to take a drive.
And what did we find? Brew Thru – my FAVORITE drive thru beer spot.

We enjoyed a beer in the shade with Thumper before heading out to dinner.
Picture 164 And then we got dressed up to go out. And by dressed up, I mean applying the first coat of mascara to meet my lashes in over 8 days!
Picture 170
The power was a bit on the finicky side at Roadside Grille, so we only stayed for a beer. I had a White Rascal.
Picture 171
I forget the name of who brews it, but it’s very much like a Hefeweizen. I loved it!
Duck has its fair share of restaurants, but most dinner options are on the fancier side. We were going with beach fare, so we pulled into our SECOND drive through of the day – Coastal Cravings.
This is where we made some bad beach decisions – and my belly is paying me back for it today.

Hush Puppies with Honey Butter

I’m not proud of my dining options, and I didn’t eat too much of the calamari. But I haven’t had a hush puppy in at least ten years, and you know what? They were delicious. They were so wrong, and I could get mad at myself, but I’m not going to. I got into the beach experience.
And then this morning I knew it was time for a long run. 7 miles. No big deal. I had some water and was set to head out the door.
Picture 182
The first three miles were easy! Luckily the sun wasn’t out yet. But, for every time that I wanted to stop, I just thought of Jen and how much strength she is going to need, and every time I started to feel drained I made my feet go that much faster.
And here I am. Post seven miles.

Sweaty mess!
Since we’re leaving in the morning, we decided to use up leftovers in the fridge for a brunch.

We definitely didn’t need lunch after this breakfast! We were on the beach from 11-2 today (prime sun hours which is probably why I’m covered in beach bumps now), and then came inside to escape the heat and read.
We decided to have a linner tonight – since it was too late for lunch and too early for dinner. We biked over to Coastal Provisions for a sandwich.
I had a Tomato/Mozzarella on Ciabatta

Heaven!
And a few of Geoff’s chips.

Linner overlooking the bay. So relaxing!
Picture 204
And what would a goodbye to the beach be without an ice cream? On our bike back we stopped at Baldie’s for a cone.

After virtually no debate we both decided on a simple Vanilla Soft Serve in a Cake Cone.

We have a lot of cleaning and packing to do before we depart! Hopefully it goes quickly so I can beat my husband in checkers – again!
Thanks for following me while I’ve been on vacation! I feel like you guys have been right there lying next to me on the beach the whole time – except, you guys evaded the sun bumps!
